Brewhouse Jazz goes down a storm and final day of the festival

The Brewhouse was alive with sounds of music last night. Drawn in by the jazz emanating from The Brewhouse doors, people flocked to listen to listen to energetic and engaging Bristol based quartet, Freight in the cafe bar before Stacey Kent and Yvette Staelens went on to play to enthusiastic crowds in the Main house and Studio.

Earlier in the day the Taunton Vale Farmers Market had set up in Somerset Square, bringing the best of local produce to the Brewhouse and Edwardos continued the celebration of the local with a 3 course Somerset Dinner in the restaurant, which had a full house enjoying this offer.

Today is the final day of England, My England and there are lots of events in what promises to be a special day celebrating the more traditional aspects of Englishness.

You can enjoy a traditional Sunday Roast from 12 but you better not eat too much as there are FREE  ballroom dance classes at 3pm in our studio! This is to prepare you for our 1947 style tea dance in our main house between 4 and 6pm with ballroom and jive music provided by local legends, The Deane Big Band.

Outside we will keep Somerset Square alive with exciting street jazz ensemble, The Albion Horns who will provide sounds to your afternoon from 2 – 5pm.

From 6 – 7pm, Tim Hill, from the Albion Horns will be giving a FREE talk on the origins of May Day before our final event of the evening which sees Julian Temple , film director presenting his 2 new films about The Kinks from 8 in the main house.

Come down from 12 to enjoy a packed day of events!  This is the finale of what has been a rich and diverse programme of events to celebrate and explore what it is to be English today.
